Business Girls
Message from the President – May 2016
Hello, everyone!
CROSSOVER NIGHT – Next Tuesday
A crossover means that the rounds will go much quicker and we will all finish golfing at a time closer together than usual. A perfect set up for our social event….be sure to stick around after your round.
THE RIBBON TOURNAMENT
Next Tuesday is also our second fun tournament of the year. It’s a brand new concept called The Ribbon Tournament. It is a team game, but everyone still keeps their own score as usual. Each player in your foursome will be given one of four different coloured ribbons before you tee off and a team scorecard. When you get to the flagstick at each hole there will be a coloured ribbon tied on it. For each hole, on your team scorecard you record the score of the player whose ribbon colour matches the one tied to the flag. You will submit your team scorecard for prizes at the end of the round. You can keep your personal score on a separate scorecard.
PUTTING CHAMPIONSHIP: http://edmontonriversidegolfclub.com/ladies/putting-championship/
Just a reminder to join us for the launch of our new putting contest next Tuesday. Arrive early before you tee off and try your hand at the challenge holes on the putting green. Your score will be tallied and the member with the lowest number of putts will receive the Putting Award. If there’s a tie, we will have a playoff the following Tuesday night on June 28.
There will be a cash prize and a trophy for the winner, and everyone who participates will receive a lovely gift. We are so grateful to our sponsors: RE/MAX super stars Carolyn Knispel and Rhonda Navratil…Professional Realtors – Amateur Golfers. We couldn’t do this without their support. Thank you!!
I understand that some of our members have opted to tee off on the back nine on league nights when everyone else is teeing off on the front. This has frustrated those members that are doing 18 as they encounter significant delays teeing off on the 10th hole and completing their round in good time. Also, the pro shop sends members of the public off the back nine so they need to know who is out there. Please do not golf the back nine unless you get specific permission from the pro shop to do so. Thanks for your cooperation.
EVER LOST A CLUB? Golf Canada can help you find it!
Thanks to Susan Waywood who drew my attention to a new service through Golf Canada. Golf Canada offers an equipment identification and retrieval system to reunite golfers with their lost clubs. If you go online under your account settings and request a card, Golf Canada will automatically mail out stickers you can put on your equipment. The labels include your Golf Canada membership number. If someone finds a club, they can go to the golfcanada.ca/ID and enter the number. Golf Canada will instantly send out a text message notifying the owner that their club has been found. Even if you don’t want the labels for your own clubs, keep this in mind if you ever find a club while playing. For more info go to page 30 of the latest Golf Canada magazine.
WINE AND 9 Event
The City is hosting a Friday night Wine and 9 event at Riverside on June 17 and July 15. Half price wine, wine tasting, prizes, live music, and dinner specials at the Dogwood Cafe. You can register at edmonton.ca/golf or by calling 311.
